We are actively moving forward to be a Total Ministry congregation. We had the Rev. Kay Rohde as our guest preacher, followed by a congregational meeting on Sunday, September 8th. At the end of September, there will be an opportunity to learn more about Total Ministry. On Friday evening September 27th and Saturday September 28th, the Total Ministry Event will take place at St. John’s, Marysville. There will be presentations about Total Ministry and sharing of stories about their experience of Total Ministry from congregations around our diocese. This is wonderful chance to share and learn from other churches of our diocese about what Total Ministry can mean for the ministries of congregations. There is a $35 fee for the event which includes dinner Friday, a continental breakfast Saturday, and lunch on Saturday. All members of St. George’s are invited to attend. You can register through the diocesan website, www.norcalepiscopal.org, or by letting our senior warden Mel Rose or me know that you want to attend (registration deadline is September 23).
I believe that Total Ministry is a way for us to be missional (focused on Christ’s mission to the world) and sustainable (able to support our on-going ministries). I hope that many will attend the worship service and gathering on September 8th, and that we will have a good turn-out for the Total Ministry Event on September 27-28.
