Saturday was a successful workday for the gardeners of the St. George’s Community Garden, kicking off the 2013 summer growing season. The weatherman was fortunately off the mark, so no rain, but cool weather as folks cleaned up the general garden area and started preparing their plots. A big thanks to St. George’s Junior Warden Bill Kaler, for bringing his tractor, quickly moving our pile of garden debris, and helping spread wood chips along the walk/driveways in the garden. We look forward to a new season with six new gardeners bringing us to more than 30 plots under cultivation, as well as our home school group who planted a section of the garden with native plants. Again this year we will have two plots to supply produce to St. Matthew’s food closet.
